The call for artists for the juried show next month at the Community School for Music and Art (CSMA) in Ithaca was a look at the last decade and to identify an image that represented something significant that happened during that decade in the country or one's own life. The image here of the fiddler in the cemetery was taken last spring in New Orleans when I was there for a conference for the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Cemeteries are considered cities of the dead and have the tombs above ground due to the high water table in that area of the country. Was this fiddler playing to someone he knew? We will never know.
